Wildwood Designs are known as one of the best Sydney furniture makers. We have been in operation is Sydney, Australia for over 19 years. We have shop locations in Stanmore and Gladesville and our factory is in Revesby. The secret to our success is that we love Australian Hardwood. There is nothing like it’s beauty and density anywhere else in the world. Handcrafted wooden furniture brings a warmth and texture to a living environment.
Owned and operated by Husband and wife team Pete and Juliet. The business proves as an outlet for Peter’s love for making original furniture designs and Juliet’s flare for interior decoration. We also have a qualified team that builds custom orders for our clients for both domestic and commercial environments.
Here’s what the press have written about us over the years.
Daily Telegraph said in 1999, “Peter Crutchfield has made a career from rescuing old wood. Peter is the owner of one of Sydney’s most interesting furniture shops.”
Sydney Morning Herald 1999, “Son of an artist mother and sculptor father, Crutchfield say’s his always had a fascination with the quirky. After starting an apprenticeship in cabinet-making he began collecting offcut materials from building sites and gradually a range of furniture began to take shape. When he outgrew his backyard, he bought a factory in Tempe from which he could design and produce big, smart and sturdy furniture using discarded fencing, church beams and other timber from building sites, piers and wharves.”
McGrath Real Estate Magazine 2007 “Wildwood Designs source their boutique logs from small country mills where they undergo a particular sawing method to
The Sydney Morning Herald in 2007 said, “Let no one accuse Peter and Juliet of Wildwood of jumping on the sustainability bandwagon. They are champions of recycled, reclaimed and plantation-forest timbers since the launch of their first store in Newtown over a decade ago. Their location has changed but the philosophy hasn’t. Wildwood’s rustic tables share space with sleeker shapes in timber ranging from recycled Watson’s Bay blackbutt , Redgum and Jarrah.”
North Shore Times 2010 – “Mass produced furniture is not my game. The appeal of our furniture is that it isn’t something that you find everywhere. It is also the scarce nature of the sustainable and recycled Australian hardwoods that we use. Wildwood Designs believe that Australian hardwood is natures art.”
In present times Wildwood Designs continue to make outstanding original furniture designs and we now sell some selected imported pieces. We make many custom orders to our customers exact measurements. Our shops are open 7 Days. We employ about 13 staff including qualified cabinet makers.
